After graduation I attended William and Mary, graduating in 1963. That summer I married the former Diane Rucker (W-L class of '59). I received a PhD in physics from Princeton University in 1969 and spent 4 years as a postdoc at UCLA where Diane and I produced 2 children, Carolyn and Mark. We moved to Pittsburgh, PA at the beginning of 1974 when I joined the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh. I was a professor of physics for 38 years, retiring at the end of 2011. Diane and I have 5 grandchildren. I am still active in research, but I am no longer impeded by a paycheck. I spend a lot time playing the clarinet and I am an active chamber music player at various music camps around the country.
